Column & Boom manipulators are designed to allow the welding head to move efficiently over the work piece, to achieve a high quality welding standard. This is usually combined with turning rolls that allow the work piece to rotate under the weld head. A column & boom manipulator can be very big with a high load capacity. The boom is usually capable of carrying not only the weld head but also the welding wire and wire feeder.
